Why you shouldn’t Use A.I. to enhance (or Create) your Selfies or Headshots
I am going to be so real right now. I hate artificially generated photos. I really hate artificially generated headshots. When I say I literally cringe when I see these photos, I mean it. Why?
It’s not really you. Most people can tell when your headshot is artificially generated. If your skin looks waxy, your teeth aren’t distinguishable from one another, people can tell. If the background of your portrait isn’t necessarily realistic or the environment's shadows and lighting don’t make sense, people can tell.
A.I. doesn’t yet know how to create all the little imperfections or blemishes on your face that make you who you really are. A.I. doesn’t know quite yet how to distinguish your teeth from each other or create those natural reflections in your eyes. A.I. is still figuring out how to create cohesive, and coherent backgrounds that have appropriate fields of depth, shadows and light.
Using artificial intelligence to create your business portraits is a good way of losing clients or losing interest from your potential clients. When they can’t see the real you, they lose interest. I know I lose interest when I see a business using A.I. generated photos. People want to see what’s real. Not something generated by your artificial assistant.
Which is why Headshot & brand photography is still such an important aspect to building out your brand and business visibility. If you have just been asking good ole’ chatty to generate a nice photo of you, let me encourage you to take the leap and book yourself a brand or headshot session for your business. I promise that I work closely with you to understand who you are as a person and who your business is for. We go over Styling you (from hair to makeup and clothes), to the location we shoot your session at, and the strategy and planning of your session. We leave no stone unturned in planning your session.
In Summary . . .
Using artificial intelligence in your branding and headshot photos, while it may seem appealing, can actually hurt your business more than help your business. Your ideal client doesn’t know who you really are behind the obvious A.I. constructed photos, which is costing you connection, conversion and sales.
