The Hidden Cost to Scrambling for Content

We don’t really know the hidden cost to scrambling for content until it’s far too late. We procrastinate. We put it off for weeks on end, we say we’ll get around to it later, we put it on the calendar to be done, then that day comes around, and we find that we have other things we have to do, so it gets pushed again.

But, what are the deeper consequences for scrambling for content? Let’s take a look at three huge consequences to being behind in content creation.

1. You’re inconsistent online. When you are inconsistent online, your customers/clients aren’t regularly interacting with your brand. Which means you are losing out on a valuable (and free) opportunity to interact with your ideal clients.

2. You’re inconsistent in your sales. When you lose out on those valuable touch points in social media, you also loose out on sales. When you only post a little bit here and there, when you feel like it, your sales start to reflect the fact that your clients aren’t seeing you.

3. Consumers and clients are confused about what you do, who you serve, and whether you are actually in business still or not? Because you aren’t consistent in telling your consumers and clients about your business, they can become confused about what you do, and whether you are in business still.

I’ve been there, and I understand it. There are weeks that I fall behind and feel like I am drowning in trying to figure out what to post or put out next. In fact, I’ve felt it pretty recently. But here’s what makes me spring into action when I fall behind. I know that as soon as I start catching up and posting content consistently, my sales go up, my community connections grow, my business soars.

When you are feeling behind and inconsistent in your business, you have to remember that the only way to get back on track is to continue to to keep putting out content. Even if it’s been a week since you last posted. When it’s been a while since you last posted, it helps to at least show up a little to let your audience and clients know that you are still around. Even when you are in a rut, I encourage you to keep showing up.

I know that lots of business owners struggle with this. Which is exactly why I created my Business Photo Membership. I help business owners and solo entrepreneurs be consistent on a quarterly basis, with content that makes them want to post about their business regularly. If being consistent is something that you struggle with, then I encourage you to check out our membership!

In Summary . . .

Scrambling for content may seem harmless in the moment, but it often leads to bigger issues like inconsistent posting, missed sales opportunities, and confusion about your business. When you are not showing up regularly, your audience has fewer chances to connect with you, which directly impacts your visibility and growth.

The key to getting back on track is consistency. Even if you have fallen behind, continuing to show up builds momentum again. With the right support and a plan in place, creating consistent, intentional content becomes much more manageable and impactful.
