Lights, Camera, Conversion: 10 Ways to Make Your Photos Work for You

You got your headshots done—yay! And you’ve got beautiful images showcasing your products or services—amazing! But now you might be wondering… what’s next?

Here are 10 impactful ways to put your new images to work:

  1. Profile Photos - Let’s start easy, with your business profile image. Gone are the days that small business can just smack their logo on their social media as a profile photo. Your ideal clients want to see the face behind the business. You’re business logo might be pretty neat, but I have said this before and I’ll say it again and again. . . There are so many scams out there nowadays that people want to see the real people behind a business. We are seeing more and more that if you want to stand out in your industry you got to show up as you! I know that this is difficult (even I struggle with this sometimes). But it starts with you putting your new headshot or your team’s photo on your business profile. Take that headshot or team photo and replace your page profile photo on your Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, Pinterest, Threads, X, and any/all social medias that your business is present on.

  2. About Sections - Your about Section on your website shouldn’t just be a little blurb of how your business came to be! It should include that, plus some information about you as a business owner (sprinkle in some fun facts, everyone loves fun facts), and some information about each of your team members. Include your headshot/team photos in that about section. Your client wants to know who they are going to be working with, so make sure you have a clean and concise about section with images that show your business team!

  3. Social Media Posts - Circling back to social media . . . After you have updated your Profile photo and your about section take your profile photo and either create a more social media styled about section (or honestly you could just copy & paste your about section from your website if you are short on time) and make a post on all your relevant social medias. Create that post and then pin it to your profile on Instagram & Facebook so that it shows up at the top of your profile when a new person visits your page.

4. Newsletter/Blog Posts - If you don’t have a blog/newsletter on your website I have to urge you to get it going now! It’s super important to have one (that might have to be my next newsletter post). You can use the images I create for you on your newsletter/blog so that your newsletters aren’t just a spew of words. They can help create dimension in your blog posts. Using professional images in your blogs also helps build up your credibility and professionalism. I try to add a few images here and there. But I also like to make sure that my images aren’t taking up too much space.

5. Online Product Catalog - Let’s say that you are a business that sells more products than you do services. Those products that you sell are typically going to be unique to your particular business right? Then why not have some creative images that showcase the products that you are selling! Creative images of your products not only helps you look more professional in the eyes of your consumers, but makes your products more appealing to them too, which means more sales.

6. Email Signature - Your email signature isn’t just your name. It’s a way for you to purposefully leave a lasting impression on any inquires in your inbox. If all you sign your emails with is your name, then it’s not super memorable. But if your email signature has your name, your phone number, your website linked, and your Google business page linked to it, with your team/headshot photo . . . Well, then potential clients/customers will know who it is they are buying from and can put a face to the name and the brand. You go from being a name + faceless brand to a person + brand that your potential clients are comfortable enough to buy from!

7. Business Cards - Putting your headshot/team photo on your business card is like putting those same images in your email signature. Granted not everyone does this because sometimes it’s just more practical to have the basic information on your business cards. But more and more businesses are starting to put their headshots/team photos on their business cards to help clients/customers feel a more personal connection to that business. I know this isn’t for everyone, but it is a great (albeit small) way to stand out in your industry.

8. Advertising - With the way that consumers are buying more and more from small businesses or from businesses that have more personable touches, adding images from your sessions with me to your advertising campaign is a great way to help grow your business. When we do sessions together, my goal is to help you come up with images that reflect you and your business in the most creative way possible while still being as personable with your clients as you can.

9. Pricing Guides or Client Welcomes - This is more for my service based businesses! If you have a pricing guide that outlines your services with some images that help enforce what it is that you provide, it creates credibility for you and helps ease customer minds about hiring you. Similarly, these images can build confidence in your client, if they have decided to hire you already and you have some sort of client welcome packet or online client welcome guide, so that they feel that they have made the correct decision in hiring you for [insert your service here].

10. Lead Magnets - Lead magnets, if you don’t know what they are, help to build your email list & nurture potential new clients. Examples of this would be Free Downloadable PDF’s, eBooks, or quick guides on a specific topic that pertains to your specific industry. When you create these it allows new clients to experience a taste of the expertise you possess and helps them judge whether they feel they can trust you with their money.

Bonus Tip: Publications / Online Directories - The images that we create together can also be used for when you need a little something to help you showcase your brand in a local online directory in your area. Online Directories are great for building your brand visibility in your local area, so having images that amplify who you are and your professionalism can make a huge difference. Once you start to become well known in your area you will need images that you can send to publications, if for example you are an interviewee or appear as a guest feature!

In Summary . . .

Professional brand photography isn't just about pretty pictures—it's a powerful tool to build trust and boost visibility. From updating your business profile photo across social platforms to using headshots in email signatures, business cards, advertising, and lead magnets, strategic image use can elevate your brand and attract ideal clients.
